The free tier lets you import and track up to 2 charts, with full access to every marking tool, sync preview, and stats. If you stitch more than 2 projects at a time, the one-time purchase removes that limit.

No. One purchase covers Aida on every iPhone, iPad, and Apple-Silicon Mac linked to your Apple ID. iCloud sync between those devices is included in that same purchase.

On Apple devices, yes: Aida supports Family Sharing, so up to five family members in the same Family Sharing group can use it without buying separately. Google Play does not share in-app purchases through Family Library, so on Android the unlock belongs to the Google account that bought it.

Yes. Aida for Android is its own app on Google Play and its own purchase, at the same price. Each store's purchase unlocks that platform. Keep in mind that iCloud sync is Apple-only, so the two platforms keep separate libraries; an Aida file (Settings > Move charts to another device) carries your charts and progress across once, so switching platforms does not mean starting over.

No. There is a written no-rug-pull promise: Aida will never convert to a subscription and will never remove a feature you paid for. The one-time model is deliberate, not a placeholder.

Refunds go through the store you bought from. Bought on the App Store? Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com and Apple handles it directly. Bought on Google Play? Request one from your order history at play.google.com. If something in the app is not working as expected, feel free to reach out at support@oomny.eu first and we will try to fix it.

No. Open the App Store on your new device, find Aida, and tap the download icon; Apple recognises your prior purchase and installs it for free. Your charts and progress come back automatically via iCloud sync once you are signed in.

Apple and Google each set the local price for their own storefront and currency, so the amount you see at purchase may differ from the euro amount shown here. The price the store shows at purchase is the one that applies.

Open Aida, tap the gear icon in the library to open Settings, and choose Restore Purchases (it is also on the paywall). This asks the store you bought from (Apple or Google Play) to verify your prior transaction and unlocks the full app. If restore does not work, check that you are signed in with the Apple ID or Google account you bought with, or contact support@oomny.eu.

Aida reads any PDF chart regardless of where you bought it: Etsy designers, self-published indie designers, magazine pull-outs, and pattern books all work. It reads the grid, symbols, and thread key from the file automatically, then asks you to review before saving.

Yes. Aida has a separate path for rasterized or scanned pages that detects the grid, straightens the image, clusters cells, and reads the legend visually. Because it is working from pixels rather than a clean file, it always goes to a review step so you can confirm the result before it saves.

Yes. Take a photo directly in Aida or pick one from your Photos library. A photo of a printed chart goes through the same path as a scanned PDF: grid detection, deskewing, and a review step before it saves. Any other picture takes the second path: photo-to-pattern generation turns your own photo into a counted cross-stitch chart, entirely on your device, with a live preview you can tune before saving. Aida recognises which of the two it is looking at, and a single tap switches paths if it guesses wrong.

No. When you open a multi-page PDF, Aida shows a thumbnail page-picker and nothing is pre-selected. You choose exactly which pages you want, and each page becomes its own chart, so a 40-page book can give you 40 individual trackable projects or just the one page you are currently stitching.

Aida imports the chart as a single canvas regardless of size, and the marking filter lets you highlight one colour at a time so taps and swipes only mark that colour, which is useful for confetti or dense full-coverage areas where symbols sit close together. Zoom and pan let you work at any scale.

Yes. The original PDF stays attached to the chart and is one tap away at any time, so you can cross-reference the designer's colour notes, copyright page, or any detail that did not come through in the parsed canvas.

Scanned or lower-resolution PDFs are the most common cause of a rough import; a gridless page cannot be parsed and will fail honestly rather than produce a bad result. If something looks wrong after review, you can manually re-code any symbol to the correct DMC, Anchor, or Madeira thread code inside the chart. If a specific file consistently fails, contact support@oomny.eu and attach the PDF so it can be investigated.

Yes. Aida now opens native cross-stitch files directly, alongside PDFs, photos, and scans. XSD (Pattern Maker), OXS, and PAT (PCStitch) all import, and so do FlossCross, KXStitch, Crosti, and Stitch Art Easy files. Each import goes to a quick review step so you can confirm the chart before it saves. A few encrypted or copy-protected exports cannot be opened by any third-party app; when Aida meets one, it names the format and tells you honestly instead of importing a wrong chart. Exporting to PDF from your software also still works as a fallback.

Some of it, yes. Aida can turn a photo you own into a stitchable pattern on your device: you set the width in stitches, the number of colours, the dithering and the fabric colour, and the preview redraws as you go. On that same screen you can go in cell by cell with a brush, a fill and a colour picker, and you can lock a colour in the palette, merge two, or replace one. What Aida has no way to do is design from nothing. There is no empty grid to draw on, and a chart you imported from someone else stays as it arrived, except that you can re-code a symbol to the right thread.

A multi-page PDF of a single chart is stitched into one continuous canvas on import. If pages overlap or align oddly, the import is routed to review so you can confirm it before tracking; if something still looks off, send it to support@oomny.eu and we'll look.

Yes. You can import a chart again as a separate project; the new copy starts with a clean progress slate while your original stays untouched.

Only charts you keep in your library count. A failed import that never lands, or a chart you delete, frees the slot again.

You can tap a cell to mark it, or swipe across a row (including diagonals) to mark several in one stroke. For larger areas, a flood fill marks every connected cell sharing the same symbol, and a block-fill covers a 10×10 square at once.

Aida keeps a 10-step undo ring, so you can step back through your last ten strokes. On iPad, Cmd+Z works as well.

Tap a colour in the legend to activate the marking filter: a lock badge shows which colour is highlighted, and all taps and swipes then mark only that symbol. Tap the badge again to release the filter.

While a colour is highlighted in the marking filter, use the find-next button to scroll the canvas to the next remaining cell of that colour; it pulses briefly so you can spot it quickly, and it wraps around when it reaches the edge.

Yes. Long-press any cell to cycle through full cross, backstitch, and fractional types; the type is saved per cell and persists. Backstitch and fractional completion is tracked separately from the base cross count, so your progress percent reflects each accurately.

Parking is a stitching method where you leave a thread resting in a nearby corner while you move across the fabric. Long-press a cell in Aida and choose any of its four corners to place a coloured dot; Aida shows a per-colour parked count and lets you jump to any parked position.

It is neither. The calm estimate is based on your own recorded pace over real stitching days and is shown only after you have two or more active days logged. Aida never assigns a deadline or sends reminders; it is there if you find it useful, not to create pressure.

Yes. Canvas settings let you control grid weight and interval, toggle centre lines, adjust colour strength, switch mark style, and set the precision of the smart percent display. High-contrast mode adds bold outlines and shape-based glyphs for each symbol, which helps with colour-blind or low-light stitching.

Bulk-clear removes every marked stitch for a given colour in one step. It is available from the colour's entry in the legend, and it counts as a single undoable action within the 10-step undo ring.

Yes. Alongside tapping single cells, you can swipe (including diagonally) to mark a run of stitches in one gesture.

Yes: use area-fill to flood a whole connected region of the same symbol, or block-fill to mark a 10x10 grid square at once.

Undo steps back through your last 10 strokes one at a time. On iPad you can also press Cmd+Z.

Yes. Aida has a Shortcut to resume your current chart, so you can trigger it from Siri or the Action Button and land right back in your project.

Yes. Marking a stitch gives a small haptic tap, so you get a sense of confirmation without staring at the screen.

Aida natively uses DMC colour codes. Anchor, Madeira, COSMO, and Olympus codes are also supported; each one resolves to a verified DMC hex value via a built-in conversion table, so you see the closest accurate colour on screen rather than a made-up shade.

You can manually override the colour code for any symbol: tap the symbol in the legend, re-assign it to the correct DMC, Anchor, Madeira, COSMO, or Olympus code, and the canvas updates immediately. If you stitch across devices, that override syncs to your iPad and back via your own iCloud.

The colour strength setting controls how vivid marked cells appear: a lower value gives a lighter, more muted look, while a higher one makes colours more saturated. You can adjust it in Canvas Settings to match what feels right for your chart.

Yes. The library search accepts both project names and floss codes; typing DMC 310, for example, surfaces every chart in your library that uses that colour. Sort options (name, progress, or recently opened) work alongside search.

The original PDF stays available one tap away from the chart view, so you can check the printed shade card, thread key, or any other detail from the designer at any time without leaving the app.

Yes. Manual colour overrides sync automatically through your own iCloud along with your stitching progress, project notes, and tags. There is no separate oomny account; everything travels through the iCloud you already have.

Aida converts them: each Anchor, Madeira, COSMO, and Olympus code is looked up in a verified conversion table and displayed using the corresponding DMC hex colour. The app never fabricates a colour; if a mapping is uncertain, it stays honest about that.

Open the project, tap the tag area, and choose WIP, On Hold, or Finished; you can also create your own custom tags. Tags sync automatically across your iPhone and iPad, so the status stays consistent wherever you stitch.

Yes, each project has a notes field you can write freely in. Notes sync via iCloud alongside your progress, so they travel with the chart to your iPad or Mac.

Aida includes stitch-along (SAL) tracking: you set a start date for the project, then add ordered parts that you mark off one by one, with a clear indicator on the next undone section. This is a single-device tracking tool; Aida is not a sharing platform, so other stitchers in your group manage their own copies.

The stats screen shows today's stitch count, your current streak, a 7-day bar chart, and a 52-week heatmap so you can see patterns in your own stitching pace over the year. Each chart also has a palette ring that shows progress broken down by colour. All stats are stored locally on your device and are not synced.

Yes. The search field in the library accepts a floss code such as DMC 815 and returns every chart in your collection that includes that colour. This works for DMC codes natively, and Aida resolves Anchor, Madeira, COSMO, and Olympus codes to their verified DMC equivalents as well.

Swipe left on the chart in the library and tap Delete, or open the chart and use the project menu. Deleting a chart removes it from the library on that device; because Aida uses your own iCloud, the deletion will propagate to your other signed-in devices automatically.

Your charts, tags, notes, and manual colour overrides all sync through your own iCloud account, so restoring onto a new iPhone or signing in on an iPad brings everything back automatically. Stats (daily counts, heatmap, streak) are the one exception; those are stored locally only and do not sync. If you have concerns or run into a problem, reach out at support@oomny.eu.

No. Your stats (today's count, streak, the 7-day bar and 52-week heatmap) are kept on each device locally and aren't synced. Your charts, tags, notes and progress do sync.

Most import failures happen with scanned or image-only PDFs where the grid cannot be detected automatically. Aida will tell you honestly when a page is gridless and cannot be recovered. If the file is a normal vector PDF from a designer and still fails, send the chart to support@oomny.eu and we will take a look.

Colour accuracy depends on how the original PDF was exported: a poorly compressed or heavily saturated file can shift hues during import. You can correct any symbol's colour manually by tapping the legend entry and overriding it to the right DMC, Anchor, or Madeira code, and that correction syncs to your other devices. If a whole chart is badly off, send the PDF to support@oomny.eu so we can investigate.

Aida syncs through your own iCloud account, so both devices need to be signed into the same Apple ID with iCloud Drive enabled. Give it a minute after opening Aida on the second device; a sync-state indicator will appear while it catches up. If charts still do not appear after a few minutes, check Settings > [your name] > iCloud on the iPad and confirm iCloud Drive is turned on.

The keep-screen-awake setting is on by default, but it can be toggled off accidentally. Open Settings from the library gear, tap your profile to open Preferences, and check that the keep-screen-awake option is enabled. If it is enabled and the screen still dims, your system Low Power Mode may be overriding it; that is an iOS behaviour Aida cannot bypass.

If you already own Aida on the same Apple ID, Restore Purchase silently confirms the purchase and unlocks the paid features with no further prompt. If your chart limit is still showing as two charts, force-quit and reopen the app, then check whether the limit has lifted. If you are still stuck, contact support@oomny.eu with your Apple ID email and we will sort it out.

Very large multi-page charts stitched into a single canvas do put more load on the renderer, particularly on older devices. Reducing the grid interval or lowering the colour strength in Canvas Settings can help with scrolling performance. If the slowness is severe or worsens over time, send us the chart file at support@oomny.eu so we can profile it.

Aida stores your charts locally on the device and backs them up through your own iCloud. If iCloud backup and iCloud Drive were active before you reinstalled, your progress should restore automatically after signing back in; give it a few minutes to download. If iCloud was not enabled before the uninstall, the progress was stored only on that device and cannot be recovered remotely, because Aida does not upload your data to any oomny servers.

The easiest way is to export the PDF from your Files app and email it to support@oomny.eu along with a description of what goes wrong during import. If the chart is from a specific designer or is a scanned image, mention that too, as it helps us reproduce the issue faster.

You can send feedback directly through the TestFlight app using the shake gesture or the feedback button, which captures a screenshot automatically. For more detailed reports, especially if you have a problem chart to share, email support@oomny.eu and mention you are on the beta build so we can match it to the right version.

All three are in the app today. You can flag a stitch to unpick later without changing your progress count (it shows as a small corner flag and is counted per colour), keep reference photos with each project on its Notes page, and check the finished size at 14, 16, and 18 count plus a per-thread skein estimate under Statistics and Threads. Photo-to-pattern generation is in the app too: Aida turns your own photo into a counted cross-stitch chart, entirely on your device, with a live preview you can tune. If something you want is still missing, tell us at support@oomny.eu; it helps us prioritise.

Scanned and image-only charts always go through a review step rather than being auto-accepted, because recovering a grid from an image isn't perfect. Correct anything off in review before you start; if a page has no detectable grid, Aida tells you honestly rather than guessing.
